BANQUET VR

Adjacent to the abandoned 1 acre site of the "Concept A.R World Market" is the unasuming yet powerful public sculpture "Banquet". For over a decade this reclaimed site which is comprised of the caved in facade of a industrial mixed use building sat as the quinticential definition of blight in Newark's West Ward.

The over 1000 bricks that laid waste in the location would become over the years a site for illegal dumping that families became accostomed to. Using the powers of transumation Benedict cleaned the site of natural overgrowth and debris and painted each brick to reclaim the space not only physically but spiritualy. Each brick was then numbred  to represent itself with a coinciding individual/organization in the community.

The proceeds of the sale of each work will not only benefit each individual directly but will also be used to secure this space or a smiliar space of blight in order to establish a permanet avant garde art space in Newark's Fairmount Heights neighborhood.
